Last night, we lost a dear friend and member of our race team.  Ed VanVlerah passed away after an extended illness.  Ed has been a huge part of our team for many years.  He has stuck by our side through it all.  No matter the circumstances, Ed was always positive and eager to work harder to meet the challenge.  For me personally, I have lost a dear friend and somebody that I have learned a great deal from.

Ed was the ultimate family man and has been an inspiration to me.  In our 20+ years of friendship, there wasn't a day that Ed didn't talk about his wife and kids and how much they meant to him.  In fact, he busted his butt on our race car so that I could spend more time with mine.  Ed recently joined my Dad and I on a trip to Eldora for the Prelude to the Dream.  We brought my two older sons with us and they absolutely adored Eddie.  My son Logan (5 yrs.) will be devastated to learn of his passing.  I haven't quite figured out how to tell him the news.

We will have to move forward, but will do so with heavy hearts.  There's no replacing the history and friendship that we shared with Ed.  He is simply not replaceable.  I pray that time heals the wounds of his many family members and friends, but I can assure you that he will not be forgotten.

2010 Sandusky Speedway Banquet

Andy and the Carroll Motorsports team recently attended the Sandusky Speedway awards banquet to celebrate their 2010 Sandusky Speedway Modified Division track championship.  Pictured here is the team with their awards they amassed throughout the evening.  

The awards included:

Track Champion Jacket & Trophy

Crew of the Year - Carroll Motorsports Team

Mechanic of the Year - Jeff Carroll

Achievement Award - Jeff Carroll

Most Improved Driver - Andy Carroll

But the highlight of the night, at least as far as Andy's concerned, was the announcement that his Father, Jeff, will be inducted into the Sandusky Speedway Hall of Fame this July!  He is well deserving of this award after dedicating so much of his life to his love of cars, auto racing, and the Sandusky Speedway!
